Hi Harper's Families,

I wanted to briefly address the disqualifications from last night’s meet. First, I want to emphasize that our Harpers officials do a fantastic job and work hard to apply the rules consistently and fairly. Disqualifications are simply part of competitive swimming, and our coaches spend a lot of time teaching proper technique and reviewing the rules with our swimmers.

After reviewing the DQ slips, there were a few calls that seemed a bit off from one Mt. Lookout Parent (both against Harpers and Mt. Lookout luckily). We are chopping it up to a new parent excited to try their hand at officiating! While we’ll never know exactly what an official observed during each race, I know some swimmers will be disappointed by the results. Unfortunately, meet decisions cannot be changed, so we’ll use Monday’s practice to review the most common DQs one final time to make sure everyone heads into championship meets feeling confident and prepared.

We have officially reached Championship Week! It has been an incredible summer, and I want to thank all of our swimmers, parents, and volunteers for making this such a fun and successful season. I also want to give a big shout-out to all our coaches this summer!

Important Reminders:

• A Finals swimmers should have already received an email with their entries. If you did not receive that email, please assume your swimmer will be competing at Eastside Championships.
• Eastside Championship entries are due TONIGHT at 6:00 p.m. Please complete the entry form by the deadline so I can submit our entries to the league.

Monday 7/13

Monday’s practice will follow our normal schedule for all swimmers ages 6 & up. There will be no Tropical Storm practice as we focus on preparing our championship swimmers for the final meets of the season.
